What Does Cashback Mean?
Certain credit cards pay back a small share of the total amount you spend. The percentage is usually at most a few per cent, so each purchase earns only a little. Over the course of a year, however, these small amounts can add up to a meaningful sum.
Cashback is essentially a standard rewards program where you earn a bonus as direct cash back for using the card. It encourages you to put your spending on the card that offers the rebate, which benefits both you and the card issuer.

You can earn bonuses only at S Group locations, but you can spend the money you receive back anywhere.

Curve Pay Pro users can choose 6 retailers, and Curve Pay Pro+ users can choose 12 retailers from a predefined list. Cashback is paid into your Curve Cash account with Curve, and you can use it to pay for any purchase with the card, as long as you have accumulated enough cashback. Curve Pay Pro and Curve Pay Pro+ also offer an additional 1 per cent bonus on almost all purchases made outside the euro area, with a few exceptions.

Revolut
Revolut is not just a payment card but a mobile bank designed for everyday use. Revolut offers five subscription tiers, with Revolut Standard being free. On every tier, you earn cashback on purchases in the form of points that Revolut calls RevPoints. On the free tier, points accumulate slowly. The higher the tier, the faster you earn points. You can redeem rewards with your points or transfer them to partner loyalty programs, such as airline programs. Revolut Pro is an extra feature aimed at freelancers, and purchases made with it earn direct cashback as well.

St1 Credit Cards
The St1 Visa card pays cashback on all purchases, even though the brand refers to an oil company. You earn 0.5 per cent cashback on all spending with St1 Visa, and up to 2 per cent on fuel purchases at St1 stations.
The St1 Mastercard benefits are not quite as attractive. It does not offer cashback, but you get a 0.5 cent/l discount on fuel at St1 stations.
Wirex Mastercard
The Wirex Mastercard pays cashback in BTX cryptocurrency on all purchases made with the card. With the free plan, the cashback rate is 0.5 per cent, while paid plans can earn up to 2 per cent. Wirex also pays interest and bonuses on deposited funds.
Credit Cards That Indirectly Pay Cashback
Many credit cards pay back money through points or similar schemes. In these cases, the ways you can use the value you earn are limited.
American Express Green / Gold / Platinum
American Express cards do not pay direct cashback but instead award reward points. You can redeem these points for rewards from Amex partners or use them to pay American Express card bills. Cardholders earn one point for each euro spent. In our estimate, the effective rebate is about 1 per cent, but if you redeem your points wisely, you can get significantly more value. Amex also offers extra points if your total annual spending exceeds a set threshold.

Bank Norwegian Visa
The Bank Norwegian Visa card pays at least 0.5 per cent back as Norwegian Air CashPoints or as direct cashback in euros, on up to 15,000 euros of annual purchases. You earn cashback on almost all purchases, but not on ATM withdrawals or money transfers. You earn slightly more CashPoints on Norwegian Air flight tickets. One CashPoint equals one Norwegian krone in value, and one euro of cashback is worth one euro. CashPoints can only be used to buy Norwegian Air flight tickets. Cashback can be used to pay your credit card bills.

Finnair Visa Credit Cards
With the Finnair Visa Credit and Finnair Visa Credit Light cards, you can earn Finnair Avios points. The Finnair Visa Credit card earns 1.7–2 Avios per euro spent. The Light version earns one Avios for every 2 euros spent. You can use Avios to redeem Finnair award flights and services from Finnair partners.
A domestic Finnair return flight costs 13,000 Avios. Depending on the card type, this means you need to spend 6,500–26,000 euros on your Finnair Visa Credit card to earn enough points for an award flight. Even an award flight is not completely free, as you still have to pay airport taxes and service charges of about 50 euros.

Nordea Gold
Nordea Gold used to have no cashback program of its own, but that changed. From May 1, 2026 onward, the card has paid around 0.5 per cent cashback on purchases made on credit, which is quite typical for credit cards today.
You can also link a K-Plussa membership to the card. This allows you to earn Plussa points in K Group stores. The purchase does not have to be charged to Nordea Gold, because the first swipe of the card activates the K-Plussa benefit, after which you can pay with another method. In other words, K-Plussa is not a benefit tied specifically to this card, but a separate rewards program.

Nordea Platinum
Nordea Platinum includes a cashback program that lets you earn 0.5–0.7 per cent back on purchases made on credit. The rebate is paid out as direct cash. The card also comes with several useful features, and its price is reasonable.
You can also collect Plussa points with this card in K Group stores. The payment does not need to be made with Nordea Platinum, because the first read of the card activates the K-Plussa benefit, and you can then pay with another card. It is possible to earn both cashback and Plussa points on the same purchase.

What Is the Best Cashback Card?
Nowadays, most credit cards offer quite similar features, and no single card clearly stands out. A cashback rate of around 0.5% is very common, so it makes sense to choose a card that offers at least this level of reward. If you collect airline miles or travel-related benefits, another type of card may suit you better. For example, Nordea Platinum offers travel-related perks such as insurance and additional services, which can be useful for frequent travellers.
